Dear Parents,
This transmedia story is intended to educate your child about the experience of using the U.S. Postal Service to send mail through a fiction story about a little girl named Maggie Mae. This story is intended for younger children, specifically those from kindergarten through 3rd grade.
The extra resources in this story are intended to complement the story and further engage your child in the learning process—they won’t just read about mail, they’ll learn how it can apply to them. As he or she reads through the story, your child will be encouraged to interact with the pages through exploration of other websites or completion of a fun game or activity.
Specifically, the introduction to writing letters will help your child to learn about a new type of writing (friendly letters) and could add excitement to the writing process by providing a social purpose. This reinforces Common Core writing standards.
Any of the resources were either created specifically for this story, or were deemed appropriate for your child. The sources are credible, age-appropriate, and current.
Feel free to email me with any questions: [email protected].
Enjoy!
Nancy
